Tips From A Family Dentist For Healthier Teeth

While many parents remind their children and ensure that they brush their teeth on a regular basis, children need professional dental care at a dentist. Along with specialized care toward children, there are also other steps parents can take to ensure their children have healthy teeth. As a family dentist, we suggest taking the following steps to stay in good oral health:

Eat a healthy diet

The food one consumes can a have a positive or negative effect on the teeth. Fatty and sugary foods can leave a residue that helps promote the growth of plaque when one does not keep up oral hygiene. A healthy diet that can help keep teeth healthy includes lean meat, green leafy vegetables, nuts, and dairy products.

Drink more water

This will help to prevent dry mouth and wash away food particles and bacteria. Drinking water after a meal will help clean out the teeth. Unlike other drinks, water does not consist of added sugars that can stick to teeth. Water is one drink that people of all ages need to make a common part of their diet.

Brush often

Brushing at least twice a day will help to clean the surfaces of the teeth. Using a soft bristle brush and brushing for at least two minutes will ensure that all areas of the teeth are cleaned.

Floss daily

Flossing at least once per day will clean the areas between the teeth that toothbrush bristles cannot reach. By flossing on a regular basis, people will be able to prevent the buildup of plaque and spread of infection.

Visit our office

With professional teeth cleanings at least twice a year, patients can ensure healthy teeth and avoid the possibility of infection beginning. Effective dental treatment involves prevention with professional treatment and cleanings.

Treatment at a family dentist

As a family dentist, we can treat children and adult patients with a variety of options. First and foremost, we understand how difficult a family's schedule can be and can schedule back to back family appointments. This way, a family can all visit the dentist in one day instead of multiple appointments over multiple days.

As a family dentist, one of our passions is helping people understand the difference between the work that medicines do and how the body handles infections. Antibiotics have gained the reputation for being a super medicine. We only recommend using antibiotics in specific situations. The reality, however, is that the antibiotic is designed only to help rebalance the inequality between the body’s own antibodies and the infection. Once this happens, the body will be the one that takes care of the infection with its own antibodies, learning the genetic code of the infection in the process and becoming prepared in the event the infection reoccurs.

We offer professional dental care to help prevent infections from spreading and can continue to do so with regular dental checkups at least once every six months. We can treat adult patients as well to ensure everyone in the family is healthy. As a family dentist, we can be patient with children and go over the best forms of dental care. More often than not, children do not receive the best forms of education with dental care and develop negative views of it. We will help younger patients harbor healthy and positive views of dental checkups and oral hygiene habits at home.

Family Dentist

As a family dentist, we understand how difficult it can be to juggle multiple dental checkups for your kids, school, work and getting dinner on the table. Fortunately, we can schedule multiple checkups back to back for all family members.
