Porcelain veneers make it possible for anyone to quickly restore or improve the appearance of their smile. Your teeth are a very important part of your appearance since they are often one of the first things people notice during interactions. People with clean and healthy-looking teeth are more likely to be viewed in a favorable manner. While those with dirty or damaged teeth are more likely to be judged harshly.
It is not surprising people with less than impressive sets of teeth often feel less confident than those with awesome teeth during social interactions. But, no one needs to settle with that anymore. Thanks to porcelain veneers, a couple of visits is all it takes to ensure a person has a perfect set of teeth.
How veneers are installed
The first thing the dentist will do is evaluate the patient to ensure veneers are the right solution for the issues the person is dealing with. Once that is completed, the dentist will take an impression of the patient's teeth.
The dentist uses the information to design the patient's unique veneers. The patient also gets to add their input on the shade, shape and length of the prosthetics. When both parties are satisfied, the dimensions are sent to a lab where a custom set of veneers are made. Meanwhile, the dentist will remove a small portion of enamel to prevent the veneers from making the patient's teeth appear larger than normal. The patient is fitted with temporary veneers and sent on their way.
Once the veneers are ready, the patient will be called in for a second appointment. The dentist will take off the temporary veneers and install the permanent ones using dental cement. Once the veneers have been installed, the patient's smile is immediately improved.
Benefits of dental veneers
There are many reasons why a growing number of people are opting for dental veneers when it comes to improving the appearance of their smile. These include:
- Veneers can eliminate the most severe cases of stains and discoloration that are not responsive to whitening treatments
- Veneers do not require specialized cleaning techniques
- Veneers are versatile and they can be used to deal with a variety of dental issues
- Veneers are extremely effective when it comes to improving the way a person's smile looks
Is it time for porcelain veneers?
Veneers can be made from different materials like composite resins and ceramic, but porcelain veneers are one of the most popular types. Porcelain is a durable material that can withstand lots of stress, it is translucent like real teeth and it is very hard to stain.
That means people who get porcelain veneers do not just end up with perfect-looking teeth that eventually lose their luster. The patient's teeth will remain shiny and white for a long time after the veneers are installed.
